MOSAÏQUE 09
Challenging Binary Patterns
How can non-binary perspectives challenge, shift or expand creative practice?
MOSAÏQUE is a workshop-like format focused on artistic working processes and collective exchange. Instead of presenting polished final works, invited artists open up their current research, methods and work-in-progress — creating space for feedback, reflection and interdisciplinary dialogue.
This edition is developed together with the Berlin-based non-binary collective LIK and centers around non-binary artistic perspectives and process-based exchange.
The first part of the gathering is dedicated to invited non-binary artists sharing their current works and artistic processes through individually developed feedback methods:
// I AM REALLY HOPEFUL … - Jo O'Brien
// 999 QUEERS - David Cuka
// FEENHÜGEL - Rosa & Aimé
The second part opens into a collective discussion around the topic “Challenging Binary Patterns” together with the audience, artists and the LIK collective.
Everyone is welcome — regardless of gender identity or previous experience with artistic feedback formats.

MOSAÏQUE
Works in Process
MOSAÏQUE is a showcase of artistic processes, focusing on the unfinished and raw aspects of creation rather than the polished, finished work.
//WHAT:
MOSAÏQUE is a workshop like format focusing on the process itself; the „failed“ and unfinished parts of it and celebrates the moment of raw creation, instead of presenting finished and polished work. Each edition has its own theme that is centered around problems artists face in their artistic practice. It encourages artists to exchange working methods across different disciplines by opening up their individual process and sharing intermediate states.
//WHY:
The format sees itself as a contribution to collective learning and aims to counteract the cliché that artists have finished their education after studies and the associated „secrecy“ surrounding their own working methods. MOSAÏQUE responds to the need of artists, creatives and researchers not only to present finished projects, but also to allow exchange of the current state of research, development processes and working methods, and wants to give this exchange its own space.
//HOW:
You dare to open up your process, we take care of the ideal frame for you. We prepare professional and individual feedback methods and moderate the conversation. You get honest feedback to your current state of process, the other participants and the audience get an insight into different creative working methods and all together benefit from an inspiring exchange. Our methods based on the DasArts Feedback Method are constantly developed from each edition. MOSAÏQUE itself is a process where we integrate your feedback.
Past editions:
Each edition of MOSAÏQUE addresses a different topic related to the artistic process. In the past editions we have focused on the following:
01 - LET’S FAIL TOGETHER
02 – (UN-)FINISHED WORK
03 – PAUSE
04 – WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU´ RE STUCK?
05 - FAIL AGAIN, FAIL BETTER (reflection)
06 - THE FEAR OF BEGINNING
07 - THE FEAR OF ENDING
